No, TBM Therapeutics is a private, cash-pay physical therapy practice. The purpose of offering physical therapy as an out-of-network provider is to allow the patient and provider to truly be in control of the plan of care. The type of care you receive in any in-network medical facility is directly related to the type of care your coverage pays for, which can often lead to limitations of services. Here, you are in control.
However, it is important to review your current insurance policy benefits prior to starting treatment with TBM Therapeutics. Many plans offer out-of-network deductibles and reimbursement options for covered cash-pay expenses!
Direct access to physical therapy services in the state of Louisiana was enacted in 2016. No physician referral is needed for us to begin treating you; however, let us know if you are currently under the medical supervision of a physician office. It is important for all providers to keep a flow of communication for your health needs.
Yes! Do we go to Med school? No! Neither does a dentist, podiatrist, optometrist, psychologist... All of the previously listed medical specialists, and many others, went through their respective graduate programs and associated clinical trainings to become a Doctor of (insert medical specialty here). DPTs go to PT school. The Doctor of Physical Therapy degree became the standard required education in order to sit for the National Physical Therapy Exam in 2016. Our profession is under a transformation; therefore, not all practicing physical therapists hold this credential yet. Regardless, anyone holding DPT credentials signifies that you are in the hands of a licensed professional with a clinical doctorate level education and associated advanced clinical training in managing the form, function, and dysfunction of your physical capabilities.
Your first session will start with an initial evaluation to determine how best to treat your symptoms. A typical physical therapy session at TBM Therapeutics lasts for one hour. The length of your session may vary depending on your individual needs and treatment plan. A list of common interventions in a treatment session is available on our Services page; however, there are many factors that will determine what treatments are involved in your session. Ultimately, you are in control of your treatments start to finish, and all sessions are adaptable to suit your needs as we progress through your plan of care.
It depends on your clinical presentation, the results of your initial evaluation, your response to our initial treatments, and your rehab prognosis. We generally like to treat our patients at least once a week for 4 to 6 weeks because the progress from each session builds from one to the next. However, every patient is unique and we are committed to creating your individualized plan of care with you at the end of the initial evaluation session.
